UNIQUE HAND MADE PRODUCTS....

StartSmall is a not-for-profit company with a clear philosophy: linking the special skills of the Kenyan artisans to the markets of Europe and the US. StartSmall sells an ever-expanding  range of unique products hand crafted by Kenian artisans in designs that will appeal to a wide range of tastes.

We've got greeting cards are made from wire, beads and recycled tins. Each card is hand cut and therefore one-of-a-kind.

And we've got a new line of funky handbags and baskets in different shapes and sizes and in all kinds of funky colours. The bags are made from recycled plastic bags which are intricately woven into a gorgeous bag. A MUST-HAVE ACCESORY!

SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT IN KENIA...

The profit on the products goes to the StartSmall Fund, which owns shares in carefully screened micro credit companies in Kenia. Moreover, the company employs 4 persons on a commission basis who are able to support their families with their work. To learn more about the projects StartSmall supports, click on Projects.

AND BENEFITTING THE ENVIRONMENT...

All StartSmall's products are made from locally available recycled or reusable materials.

The cards are mainly made from recycled tins such as baby food, instant coffee and air freshener. Most designs have magnets so that the figure on the front can be removed and used for example as a fridge magnet. This way, nothing is wasted. 

Anyone who has ever been to Kenia knows what an eye-sore the thousands of plastic bags floating around the shrubs and highways are. StartSmall now collects these bags, sanatises them and makes them into unique handbags.
